WSC Condemns the Arrest of Sindhi Leaders, London, UK.

World Sindhi Congress (WSC) expresses an extreme concern over the arrest of Sindhi leaders belonging to Jeay Sindh Quomi Mahaz – a party that advocates the freedom of Sindh. Prominent Sindhi political leaders and activists like Mr. Abdul Wahid Aresar, Mr. Mansoor Khaskeli, and Mr. Asghar Shah were arrested this week while they were returning after attending a political procession. Also, Mr. Bashir Khan Qureshi, Chairman of Jeay Sindh Quomi Mahaz, is still in prison since January 1999. Last year, a state sponsored political group murdered  another Sindhi leader, Mr. Qayoum Mangi, who was a Vice-Chairman of Jeay Sindh Qoumi Mahaz.

WSC strongly condemns these arrests and feels that this sort of action will further destabilise political situations in Sindh. The people of Sindh and Sindhi political activists have always suffered Pakistani establishment’s aggression.

WSC plans to contact with various international forums regarding this unjust act by the Pakistani government. WSC also appeals to Sindhis and other activists all over the world to protest against these arrests and demand the release of the Sindhi leaders by writing to Pakistani authorities and various international human rights groups.
