WSC commemorates the Remembrance Day to pay tribute to Sindhi martyrs
World Sindhi Congress commemorated the Remembrance Day to pay tribute to Sindhi martyrs who have given ultimate sacrifices for their motherland and people of Sindh in its thousands years of history for survival as a proud nation. The ceremony is an annual event in which we remind ourselves that the mission of Sindhi martyrs is still unaccomplished. Ceremony Speakers came across the Europe and paid tribute to Bashir Khan Qureshi, Muzafar Bhutto, Ghazala Siddiqui, Rooplo Choliyani, Sirai Qurban Khawar, Parveen Rehman, Noorullah Tunio, Zulfiquar Kolachi, Samiullah Kalhoro, Mustaque Khaskheli, Amir Khawar, and Sajad Murkhand.
“In this worst period for history Sindhi martyr’s sacrifices is a source of hope and inspiration for Sindhi People. We should remember that emancipation couldn’t be achieved without unity, well thought out strategy, hard work and sacrifices” said Lakhu Luhana, WSCChairman while addressing a gathering of political, human rights activists around the Europe.
Amongst others who spoken at the event included Dr Naseer Dashti, renowned Baloch intellectual, analyst and writer, Mir Hussain Baloch of Baloch Human Rights Council, Qambar Baloch, President of Baloch Students & Youth Association, Shahzado Wadhio, Secretary General of Sindhi Sangat UK, Hafeezan Wadhio of International Sindhi Women Organization, Dr Hidayat Bhutto, WSCUK & Europe Organizer, Imran Soomro, WSC youth leader whilst Gul Sanai conducted the program.
Dr. Naseer Dashti expressed his great hope in achieving the right of self-determination for Sindh and Balochistan, provided leaders of Sindhi and Baloch nationalist parties could join their hands for united struggle and emancipation of their nations. He stressed that diaspora of both nations should pool their intellectual resources to formulates a short, medium and long term strategies to break the indifferent attitude of western powers towards the plight of Baloch and Sindhi people.
Dr. Hidyat Bhutto, was appalled the way Pakistani army is getting away once again the murders of Sindhi political activists such as Amir Khawar and Sajad Murkhand. He said “In every decade Pakistani army has committed heinous crimes against people of various nations with complete impunity. They killed millions of Bengalis and they got away with it. Now they are committing heinous crimes against Sindhis and Baloch but this time we will not let them get away with it. We will make them accountable and they have to pay the price for their crimes against the people of Sindh and Balochistan.”
Young Baloch leader Qmbar Baloch said that “the martyrs of Sindhudesh laid their lives for their people and now it is up to Sindhi youth to keep the kindles of their heroes alight in order to make their dreams come true”. He also said that ‘each generation has a duty to pass on the light of freedom to next generation. However, this generation of Sindhi and Baloch youth have to make sure they pass on the dream and national struggle to next generation in no worst condition than what we inherited.”
Mir Hussain Baloch of Baloch Human Rights Council, UK said that “from today onwards I will not use word Sindh I will call it Sindhudesh. Until and unless we don’t vocalize our dreams openly enemy will always find ways to kill, torture and supress our ultimate goals. Therefore let’s say we are children of Sindhudesh and we are children of Balochistan.”
Remembrance ceremony was concluded with one minute silence for Sindhi martyrs, followed by Sindhudesh national anthem.
