Speaker’s and Music Session Information On the 107th Birth Anniversary of Saeen G. M. Syed, Houston, TX, January 15th, 2011
Syed Zia Shah is the founder and President of the G M Syed Memorial Committee. Dr Shah is a grandson of Saeen G M Syed and has been active in promoting the message of peace and freedom of Saeen G M Syed through various platforms.
Noorunissa Ghangro is the Vice President of the Sindhi Association of North America and is involved in community service in several forums and platforms.
Dr. David Cook is an Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the Rice University, Houston, TX. Dr. Cook’s interests include the study of early Islam, Muslim apocalyptic literature and movements for radical social change, dreams, historical astronomy, Judeo-Arabic literature and West African Islam.
Dr. Snehal Shingavi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of English and in South Asian Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. His interests include Anglophone South Asian literature, Hindi/Urdu literature, Literature in Translation and Translation Theory, Theories of “the nation”, and Classical Marxism.
Malik Baloch is presiding council member of the pro-independence American Friends of Balochistan. He has been actively involved in exposing the Pakistan military atrocities in Balochistan by organizing rallies and by talking to radio stations in the USA.
Abdul Haque Chang is a Fulbright scholar and a PhD Student at the Department of Anthropology, the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include ethno-musicology historiography, colonial text and representation.
Farhan Kaghzi is the Organizer of the World Sindhi Congress, US Chapter. He lives in Conneticut, USA and is been active in numerous community reach out campaigns.
Dr Yvetter Rosser is a research scholar working on education and curriculum in South Asia. Dr Rosser is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin. She has traveled to Sindh a few times and has written on Sindh and Sindhi issues
Dr. Valeed Shaikh is a President of Sindhi Association of North America and has been involved in various Sindhi community initiatives.
Dr. Hidayat Bhutto is the Chairman of World Sindhi Congress. He lives in Sheffield, UK. He has been active with Sindhi movements from his early age.
