In this backdrop, the Pakistan establishment have resorted to means of extreme repression to stop the meaningful participation of the genuine representatives of Gilgit and Balwaristan. While other parties such as Muslim League, PPP, ANP and even MQM which has no previous connection, organisation, interest and constituency have been given free hand, all the leaders and hundreds of political workers of All Parties National Alliance (APNA), Gilgit Baltistan Democratic Alliance (GBDA), Balawaristan National Students Organization (BNSO) and Karakorum Students Organization (KSO) have been either arrested or have been kidnapped. All the 3 candidates of Gilgit constituency of the indigenous nationalist Political Alliance (mainly consisting of BNF and KNM) have been arrested on 31st Oct by Police on the direction of army before their public meetings on 1st Nov.
The Pakistan establishment are openly using police, army and intelligence agencies to terrorise indigenous people. The whereabouts of many leaders and workers are unknown and it is feared that they have been transferred to the torture centres.
WSC condemns these brutal human rights violations of Pakistani regime against the indigenous people of Giligit and Balwaristan. On behalf of Sindhi people WSC sympathise with the plight of the people of Gilgit and Balwaristan. WSC assures to work closely with the exiled leadership of Balawaristan National Front (BNF) and offer their assistance to people of Gilgit and Balwaristan to inform the international community and requesting their immediate intervention to stop these atrocities and crimes against the indigenous people.
