The World Sindhi will be represented by its Senior Vice-Chairperson, Ms Suraiya Makhdoom. As usual, she will attend the Council sessions as well as the NGO briefings and present the current human rights issues confronting Sindh and Sindhi people. She will also meet various NGOs and other delegates and create awareness for Sindh problems.
Ms Makhdoom will try to focus bring to the attention of the world body the current issues facing Sindh, Balouchistan and other oppressed nations and people in Pakistan, like the issue of settling IDPs, very far from their homes, in Sindh, which is already over-burdened with influx of people from other parts of Pakistan as well as from other countries.
In March 2009 World Sindhi Congress attended the 10th Session of the Human Rights Council and was represented by Suraiya Makhdoom. During that session, WSC submitted a written statement on the platform of Interfaith International.
