Dr. Safdar Sarki, Chairman of World Sindhi Congress has urged all social, political, environmental, and human rights activists in the London area to attend a protest rally in front of the Pakistan Embassy on March 23rd, 2002. This rally is organized to protest over the Pakistani Government's unfair distribution policies of River Indus water and construction of Thal canal. The unequal distribution has resulted in a worst water crisis in the history of Pakistan. Especially for Sindh, whose major source of income is agriculture, irrigation failures have caused a great damage to the region's economy. Many towns and villages do not even have drinking water. A severe drought is expected in many areas of Sindh.
This rally is organized to raise awareness about the systematic economic exploitation of Sindh. The World Sindhi Congress plans to present a memorandum ofdemands to Pakistan High Commissioner during this rally.
