World Sindhi Congress – a human rights advocacy group based in UK, USA – in their press release from USA today, denounced the Pakistani Government’s decision to commemorate the first anniversary of its nuclear test explosions on May 28th. WSC opined that this ultra-nationalistic and patriotic display would lead to further rise of fundamentalist fervour and militarist extremism.
World Sindhi Congress regretfully stated that Pakistan spends a major portion of its yearly budget on military expenditure, while the resources allotted to sustainable development, education and health care remain minuscule. Recently, there has been a big natural disaster in coastal areas of Sindh. WSC demands that the Government must dedicate appropriate funds to relief of the victims instead of commemorating its Nuclear Bomb testing.
